7 May: Belfast Marathon

Volunteers needed to help at The Deep River Rock Belfast City Marathon which celebrates its 37th year on Bank Holiday Monday, 7th May 2018

Volunteer Now is very excited to be involved in this event for Belfast and Northern Ireland. The Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon is one of the leading Marathons in the UK and Ireland. The race starts at the Belfast City Hall and finishes at Ormeau Park.

This event relies heavily on volunteer involvement to help the race run smoothly and volunteers are needed for a range of tasks including;

* Managing a Water Station/Energy Station

* Acting as route marshals to direct participants

* Working as part of a team at the Start and Finish areas to distribute packs and prizes.

All volunteers will receive event training prior to Race Day, an official rain jacket and after the event, a commemorative medal for their involvement.

Register to volunteer at this event: Events Team Volunteers

(this link will take you to our Events Team site to set up an Event Team volunteer account - this is a separate tailored volunteer account specifically for Events which will allow you to book volunteer shifts, etc)

Saturday 7 April, 10am-1pm: Volunteer Now Office, 34 Shaftesbury Square Belfast, BT2 7DB

If you're thinking of volunteering at the marathon this year but not sure, have volunteered in previous year's and would like to get to know us or this is your first time volunteering with us, then this Open Day is for you! The Open Day will allow potential volunteers to come and find out more about the roles, meet our existing volunteers and speak to Raquel Rodrigues Keenan, the recruitment officer. We will have information on the roles, the race route and samples of the uniform and steward cards on the day. Marathon volunteers will be there to meet you and can share their own experience with you.

Volunteering at the marathon is great fun and you can do it as part of a group as well. Residents and visitors all over Belfast are excited to see this event take place so there's a lovely sense of camaraderie and buzz about it. Be part of one of the major events across the country this year!

No need to pre-book, just pop in anytime throughout the morning.
