28 Aug-15 Sept: Launch of Glider (Translink new bus-based rapid transit system for Belfast)

Volunteer Ambassadors required to support people through this period of change, in particular those who may need additional support, older people and those most isolated.

Glider is a new, innovative mode of travel for Belfast, set to further enhance the image of the city and inspire even more people to choose public transport.

Volunteers will be involved in providing support to the general public at halts within Belfast for the introduction of this new modern and high tech mode of travel, providing direct cross-city services between the east and the west of the City and linking into Titanic Quarter.

Tasks will include:

* Assist passengers to use the new ticketing machines at the halts

* Act as a first point of contact for the general public looking to use the new travel system (this may include international and domestic visitors looking to explore the city)

Training and support:

Event specific training will be provided by Translink during the month of August.

Tuesday 21st August (at Belfast Europa Bus Centre for first 30 mins and then Grosvenor House, 5 Glengall St, Belfast BT12 5AD) Morning session:12.30pm-2.30pm / Evening session:6.30pm-8.30pm

Volunteer Ambassadors must attend one of the sessions to help prepare for the role. Uniforms (branded hi-vis vest and drawstring bag) will be available for collection at the training sessions. Due to the large scale of the event we’re unable to reimburse travel costs but a snack pack will be provided to Ambassadors for each shift.
