Positive Result for Volunteers

27 August 2013

Five hundred and eighty one (581) organisations took part in Volunteers Count which formed part of our Volunteersí Week celebrations this year.

They told us they involve a staggering 138,213 volunteers!  Given that we know there are many more voluntary and community organisations across the county, the figure presents an extremely positive snapshot of voluntary activity in Northern Ireland. This was the first year we did the count and we envisage that it will be an annual activity that will help us build recognition for the important role volunteers play in their communities.

Congratulations to Nadine Campbell from Concern Worldwide who won the iPad generously donated by leading IT providers CMI, as a 'thank you' for taking part in the Count.

Thank you to everyone who took part in Volunteers Count this year – we do hope that you will be part of the count in 2014.  Have a look at the map to see the organisations who took part and the number of volunteers they involve.
