Free Training for local Community Groups, Voluntary Groups and Charities

Volunteer Now has been kindly supported and enabled by Newry, Mourne and Down Council to deliver a range of courses, free of charge, to local community and voluntary groups and charities.

These courses are open to both staff and volunteers within your organisation.

 FINDING AND KEEPING VOLUNTEERS

This course provides an introduction to the basic theories and tools to help organisations:

  • Identify what motivates people to volunteer
  • Define clear and meaningful roles that will attract potential volunteers
  • Find the right volunteer for the right role
  • Develop appropriate support and supervision for their volunteers

CREATING VOLUNTEER CHAMPIONS

This course is for sports and arts volunteers or staff. It aims to increase good practice in volunteer management. Volunteer Champions will:

  • Develop good practice in volunteer management
  • Commit to creating a culture and way of working that protects, values and empowers volunteers.

WORLD HOST – AMBASSADOR WORKSHOP

This half-day workshop supports ambassadors and volunteers in providing a warm and friendly welcome. It equips participants with the resources to interact and assist visitors to Northern Ireland and provides an opportunity to build on delegates’ existing skills as representatives of Northern Ireland to our visitors. This workshop will provide delegates with a detailed knowledge of the tourism product in Northern Ireland and within their specific tourism destination.

•        Local tourism resources

•        Ambassador resources

•        The pride factor

•        Lasting impressions

These courses are fully funded through Newry, Mourne & Down District Council and is available for voluntary and community groups in this council area only.
