Funding Available from Seized Crime Assets

12 January 2016

Justice Minister David Ford has announced the opening of the latest round of funding applications in the Assets Recovery Community Scheme.

Community groups across Northern Ireland are being invited to apply for the funding which comes from assets seized from criminals.

David Ford said: "Over 3 million from the Asset Recovery Community Scheme has gone to a wide range of projects since it opened in 2011. This money, which has been taken out of the hands of criminals and returned to the community will make a real difference in supporting those who want to do good for the community instead of inflicting harm and fear."

Projects which have benefitted from the funding include promoting alcohol awareness, personal safety and those providing early intervention and diversionary activities for young people. There are also schemes helping to make older people feel safer in their homes. Each has the common aim of making Northern Ireland a safer place.

The application form for this year's competition is available here. It is open to Community Groups and all applications must be submitted through the applicant's Policing and Community Safety Partnership.
