Depaul call for volunteers ...

Depaul is a charity supporting people who are homess and at risk of homelessness.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT VOLUNTEER: A dedicated, friendly volunteer needed to accompany Depaul staff on regular community visits. Staff provide Floating Support to individuals / families who are at risk of homelessness, are isolated in their home and may be struggling with independent living and addiction issues.  Staff focus on tenancy issues, harm reduction, parenting support and other specific needs and the volunteer can help support the service user socially in a befriending type role.  There is also option for telephone and office support based in our Nelson Street office. A patient, empathic nature with good listening skills would be needed and training will be provided. The Family Floating Support and Housing First services span the greater Belfast / Lisburn area but arrangement will be made regarding the volunteer’s locality. 

STELLA MARIS: Specialised accommodation service for vulnerable men, women and couples who have entrenched alcohol use issues and a history of street homelessness.  This low threshold service provides structured alcohol management onsite for people with complex support needs.  The service has communal areas, canteen, garden and an art /music / quiet room.  Service has a pool table, musical instruments and a ping-pong table. Docks / North Belfast.  Roles: Activities Volunteer, Befriending Volunteer and Creative Volunteer / Musician to promote social engagement.  

Mater Dei & CLOVERHILL:Specialised accommodation services which offers 24/7 support for vulnerable families and expectant parents.  Each family has their own self contained flat and are provided with professional support to help address issues that led them to become homeless. The Service has a communal room, kitchen, indoor & outdoor play areas.  The Service has assorted toys, books and equipment for children of various ages. North & West Belfast.  Roles: Parent & Child Activities Volunteer & Literacy Volunteer.

No previous experience necessary and Volunteer Training is the 1st Week of April.
