Volunteer Now Website Survey

We want the Older Peoples Volunteer Now pages to be as good as they can be, if you have 5 minutes we'd be extremely grateful if you could answer a few questions to help us improve the content. Please click here to enter the survey.

Volunteering is a fantastic way for adults in their 60s and older to boost their quality of life. It's a great way for older people to put their life experiences and skills to good use, and maybe learn some new ones whilst helping others in their community.

There is a growing body of international research which demonstrates the many health benefits of volunteering. These include reduced blood pressure, decreased mortality and improvements in self rated mental and physical health. There is also much evidence for improvements in life satisfaction, increased social support and interaction.

The Arts & Older People Programme

Arts Council

The Arts and Older People Programme offers funding to community groups, voluntary groups and arts organisations who want to work with older people in Northern Ireland. The programme aims to develop arts projects on related social issues such as poverty, isolation and loneliness.

The voice of older people should be at the heart of these projects. Innovative, community-led activities focussing on issues identified by older people can be based on any art form, from painting, crafts and filmmaking, to poetry, storytelling, music, carnival, song and dance.

The Arts & Older People Programme is an initiative of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland in partnership with The Atlantic Philanthropies.

The Arts and Older People Programme can fund up to 100% of project costs.

Organisations can apply for awards from £500 to £50,000.

All application forms and guidance notes are available to download from our website at www.artscouncil-ni.org or by contacting us directly.
