Volunteer Driver feels privileged to be a volunteer

Philip driverPhilip has been a Volunteer Driver for over 20 years.
After retiring early he decided to devote his life to helping others. Having a disability himself made it all the more important to him to be able to make a difference in other peoples' lives.

Philip's driving statistics are very impressive. In an average month he will do around 1800 miles of voluntary driving taking up about 100 hours of his time.

In addition to the North Down & Ards Voluntary Transport Service, Philip also drives a community bus for another local Charity and even finds time to Mentor young people with disabilities.

Commenting on his voluntary driving, Philip says, "I look on Volunteering as a privilege and I am pleased and proud to do something for other people"

The current team of around 15 Volunteers manages to complete about 7000 miles of voluntary driving every month, an amazing achievement which is testament to their dedication and generosity. The Service would like to help even more people and needs more drivers to get involved to make this happen.

If you have some spare time and access to a car you could be part of the team.
