Keeping Children Safe: Creating a Safe Environment

This certificated training course is suitable for staff and volunteers who are planning and managing services or activities for children and young people.  It will assist them to meet the safeguarding standards required. It will cover the legal and policy framework for safeguarding, the categories of abuse which children and young people can experience and procedures for reporting concerns and dealing with an allegation against a member of staff/volunteer. The course also addresses the procedures and guidelines which need to be in place to create a safe environment, including robust procedures for recruitment, selection and management of staff and volunteers, risk assessment, and guidelines for the safe delivery of services and activities.

This course should be refreshed every three years. It is recommended that Designated Officers also attend this course, in advance of their Designated Officer training.

Places allocated in a first come, first served basis.
