13.1 miles worth of volunteer opportunities available at the Mid & East Antrim Coast Half Marathon!

Now in its 3rd year, the Mid & East Antrim Coast Half Marathon has been awarded the prestigious World Athletics Label – Elite status, making it one of the best road races in the world! Starting and finishing in Larne town, with a global viewership set to tune in live on the day, it’s a great opportunity to showcase the best of the Antrim Coast Road to both participants and visitors, with some of the best runners in the world taking part.

Antrim Coast Half Marathon will take place on Sunday 28th August 2022, with the Kids Race and Classic Street Mile providing warm up events in Larne Town in the evening Saturday 27th August. With the easing of restrictions put in place for the pandemic, the 2022 event hopes to see up to 10,000 runners take part across the weekend.

Volunteer Now is working in partnership with the marathon this year and is overseeing the volunteer recruitment.  Be part of our superb team of Event Ambassadors during the August Bank Holiday Weekend and have a great time by supporting runners and spectators along the route, at water and energy stations and at the start and finish lines.

Training and support
All our volunteers receive event training prior to Race Day. Training will take place 2 weeks before race day, and volunteers must attend one of the sessions (various dates to be confirmed but likely to take place on a Sunday morning and a Monday evening). Sessions will take place at Volunteer Now head office in Belfast, The Skainos Centre, 239 Newtownards Road, Belfast, Co. Antrim BT4 1AF and at Larne Leisure Centre, 28 Tower Road, Larne, BT40 1AB.

During the event, you will receive an official Hi-Viz safety vest, and a lanyard with key information. Refreshments will be provided. After the event all volunteers will receive a commemorative t-shirt for their services. Volunteers must be 16+ and you can volunteer as an individual, a family or as part of a group. If you’re between 16 and 25 years of age you can count your volunteer hours towards the Youth Impact Awards.  If you have any questions or would like to talk with someone from the Events Team at Volunteer Now please email or call us on 028 9023 2020.
