FREE Training for Arts Council NI funded groups

Volunteer Now Enterprises Ltd is offering free training to groups funded by Arts Council for Northern Ireland in February and March 2020.  More dates will follow for May and June.  A free review of your Safeguarding Policy is also available: please contact nicole.gorman@volunteernow.co.uk for more information.

Keeping Children and Adults Safe: An Introduction

The integrated training programme is aimed at those who engage with children, young people and adults at risk.  It covers:

  • Legal context and policy context of safeguarding children and adults.
  • Awareness of vulnerability.
  • Awareness of abuse issues.
  • Procedures for reporting concerns.
  • Code of behaviour for staff/volunteers.

Keeping Children Safe: Designated Officer Training

The training is suitable for Designated and Deputy Designated Child Protection Officers and will cover the following:

  • Knowledge of the legal context of child protection.
  • An understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a Designated Officer.
  • Knowledge of Health and Social Trust structures and processes.
  • Exploration of issues and concerns around referrals and sharing information.

 

All participants must have completed a child protection awareness raising course prior to attending. Keeping Children Safe: Training for Staff and Volunteers or Keeping Children Safe: Training for Managers, Supervisors and Management committee members are suitable foundation courses.

Keeping Children Safe: Adult Safeguarding Champion Training

This is a full day’s training for Adult Safeguarding Champions and Appointed Persons.  It covers:

  • The role and responsibilities of the Adult Safeguarding Champion/Appointed Person
  • The safeguarding adults structure for Northern Ireland
  • Determining the correct course of action in relation in relation to safeguarding concerns
  • Consent, capacity and coercion
  • Organisational and Trust responsibilities
  • Monitoring and reporting duties of the Adult Safeguarding Champion.

Guidance Sessions for those who need to licence

Education Authority is offering free Guidance Sessions to groups funded by the Arts Council for Northern Ireland.  The Guidance Session is aimed at those involved with working with children in productions in Northern Ireland and the licencing arrangements around that.

The aims and objectives of the session are as follows;

  • Provide an overview of Child Performance Legislation.
  • Why the legislation exists?
  • When a licence is required?
  • Who needs to apply?
  • The roles and responsibilities of the licence applicant
  • To understand the role of the applicant in relation to their duties in Safeguarding.
  • The benefits that the legislation brings to everyone.
