Upper Springfield Youth Team Get Involved in Social Action Tuesdays
Young people from Turf Lodge have dedicated their free time over the past few weeks to the area, and took part in a community wide clean up on Tuesday.
With the help of local political representatives, youth workers and residents, Upper Springfield Youth Team painted over graffiti, lifted rubbish on their streets and removed overgrown weeds on their footpaths.

Sinn Féin councillor Micheal Donnelly was out helping the young people on Tuesday and paid tribute to those who came to help.
“This is part of our social action Tuesdays in the month of July in conjunction with the Upper Springfield Development Trust and the Upper Springfield Whiterock Integrated Partnership.
“It’s great to see a bit of positivity across the Upper Springfield area from this community clean up. The kids were working hard to remove graffiti, taking away the weeds and it’s positive”, he said.
“These young lads and girls are giving up every Tuesday to help and it’s good to see that community empowerment and pride. Positivity goes unnoticed sometimes and day in and day out there is a lot of positive stuff happening within our community. All it takes is one bad incident to get the area a bad name. It is great that we can highlight this work today.
“The young people, they are our next generation and they are taking pride in their community. Turf Lodge is a proud, proud community. It has been for decades and we are going to continue to make it a proud area, so we don’t want any negativity. It’s all about positivity in Turf Lodge moving forward and long may it continue.”
