NICVA Launches Community Wellbeing & Resilience Programme

NICVA has launched a new support package for community and voluntary sector staff and volunteers working on the frontline of the coronavirus response.

Organised by NICVA, delivered by Inspire Wellbeing and supported by the Department for Communities, the project will provide access to specially developed online webinars, programmes and resources tailored to support individuals wellbeing.

Communities Minister Deirdre Hargey said:

“I’m delighted to be supporting this initiative, which is part of a wider programme of community wellbeing interventions that has been co designed with grassroots partners.

The wellbeing of our frontline community workers is an absolute priority for us, in the same way that the wellbeing of those in need across our communities has been a priority for them since the pandemic began.

We are now supporting their resilience as we face into the continued uncertainty of 2021 when we will meet the challenges that Covid may throw up, as we prepare for recovery together.

I look forward to hearing about the impact of this exciting initiative from community sector participants.”

NICVA Chief Executive, Seamus McAleavey said:

“We have been very conscious that lots of staff and volunteers have been working on the frontline during the COVID crisis helping others and some of them may need some support themselves.  People can hit a wall and are often in danger of ‘burn out’.”

Kerry Anthony CEO of Inspire said:

“We are delighted to be working with NICVA to deliver this important programme to our colleagues in the voluntary and community sector.  Volunteers, staff and activists from right cross our sector were at the forefront of the response to Covid19 in countless ways and it is only right that we offer help and support to those people who continue to offer so much help and support to others.

This programme will be free to access and open to all in our sector.
