Jane Kilpatrick

Jane has been volunteering with National Trust Castleward for two years.  Having lived in France for 8 years, Jane and her husband returned to Northern Ireland and are currently living in Co. Down.  Attending an Open Day at Castleward, she discovered that there were a range of volunteering opportunities available and decided to offer her time as a volunteer tour guide in the house.

Her volunteering experience has since led to paid employment as a National Trust Tour Guide, however she still finds time to volunteer with a wide variety of tasks including helping at events,  making costumes and flower arranging as she loves getting involved in creative activities.

When asked why she enjoys volunteering at Castleward she told us:

“I have felt very much appreciated and supported since day one and everyone is treated equally, whether staff or volunteers.  I’ve made many friends and of course, there’s always tea and biscuits on the go!”
