Themes for the Week:

Whilst the Queens Jubilee falls within Volunteers’ Week this year, there are still some key days that we would like to share:

• Wednesday 1 June: Volunteers’ Week Launch – A Time To Say Thanks
  An opportunity to start the week off in style with a ‘Thank You’ to all your volunteers!  It’s time to share #VolunteersWeek to celebrate and help us trend worldwide again.
• Thursday 2 – Sunday 5 June: The Big Lunch
  What better way to celebrate the impact volunteers have in their communities than The Big Lunch!  This year The Big Lunch has extended the party to highlight the Queens Platinum Jubilee, meaning The Big Lunch will be from 2-5 June.  The Big Lunch is the UK’s annual get together for neighbours and communities.  Full resources for hosting in person or online are available here.  This is your chance to celebrate community connections, recognise fellow volunteers and talk to others about your experience volunteering.  Note: Thursday 2 & Friday 3 June will be UK Wide Bank Holidays to recognise the Jubilee, remember to consider this when planning events with staff or volunteers.
• Sunday 5 June: Thank You Day
  Thank You Day started as a way for people to say a personal thank you to everyone and everything that helped us get through the pandemic.  This year, on Sunday 5 June, to coincide with the Platinum Jubilee, they’re hoping for the UK’s biggest ever thank you party.
• Monday 6 June: The Power of Youth
  Young people have a huge impact in their communities.  On 6 June – in partnership with the #iWill movement – we will focus on the role of youth volunteering in the daily lives of individuals and communities, not only during the pandemic.  We will showcase that young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow, they are leading change now in communities all over the country.  Let’s recognise the #PowerOfYouth to creative positive change through volunteering!
• Monday 7 June: Volunteers’ Week Close – A Time To Say Thanks
  Share your pictures, videos, blogs, etc. of how you have celebrated during the week!  Let’s look back on another fantastic week and remember, you can keep recognising and saying ‘thank you’ throughout the #MonthofCommunity and throughout the year to all those incredible volunteers!
